Meet our animals.
There are 4 cats, 3 dogs, 2 people and 1 horse at Crookhill!
Ninyo

Ninyo is an all black long haired German Shepherd. The name Ninyo comes from the spanish Niño for boy and El Niño the storm. Stormy wee boy! Although of late grumpy old man might be more accurate.
Conoch

Like Ninyo Conoch is an all black long haired German Shepherd. His name comes from the gaelic for Kenneth which is Coinneach. An approximate pronunciation of Coinneach is Conoch.
Kai

Kai recently joined the Crookhill pack. He is a Alaskan Malamute although he is the biggest of the Crookhill dogs he is the most laid back, which is just as well considering the size of him.
Conoch spends most of his time either chasing cats or winding up Ninyo. Ninyo on the other hand prefers a more relaxed life dividing his time betweeen sleeping and growling at Conoch. Although Kai is really bred for the snows of Alaska he is a big fan of the Scottish BBQ season!
The boys all do a great job guarding Crookhill , although Ninyo has lately taken it upon himself to try to stop us leaving! The sound of Ninyo and Conoch's barking combined with Kai's wolf like howl has to be heard to be believed ... be afraid, very afraid ... ;-)
Breezer, Guapa, Rubio and Thomas
The Crookhill Cats were found abandoned as very small kittens. Originally there were 8 of them however 4 remain at Crookhill, the other 4 were all found good homes. They have all grown to be fantastic at keeping down the rodent population. They are essentialy semi ferrel cats that live out side most of the time. That said they all have there favourite hide-aways in the house should they manage to sneak in!
To explain where the names come from:
Breezer

From Bicardi Breezer around the time we found the cats the Bicardi advert features a real party animal cat, and we thought it fitted!
Guapa

From the spanish for cute. Guapa is a very cute cat to look at but she is the number 1 rodent catcher at Crookhill so perhaps cute doesn't quite cover it, although we didn't know that when we made up the names.
Rubio

From the spanish for red as he has little patches of red on his coat. Rubio was the smallest of the litter but has grown to be quite a character.
Thomas

From tomcat. He is by far the biggest of the Crookhill cats and by far the softest. Thomas was found a day or so after the rest of the litter and by that time we had to resort to more traditional names.
Lloyd

Last but in no way least is Lloyd. Lloyd a black thoroughbred cross and stands at 15-2. Lloyd is the realisation of one of Pam's lifetime dreams - to have her own horse. He is used for a mix of showjumping and hacking.
